Missions

Missions Pastor: Joey Edwards

Purpose

To fulfill the Great Commission (Matthew 28:19-20  "Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.")

This is accomplished by proclaiming the gospel of Jesus Christ through our active involvement in evangelism and church planting.

Mission

To emphasize the need for world missions and evangelism in the local church.  In addition, to support missionaries financially on the field and lead the church in prayer and support for their work.

Vision

To see our enrollment of supported missionary's increase. Furthermore, we want to cultivate a desire for missions by organizing mission trips to both foreign fields and here in the U.S. with our members.

Faith Promise

You can be a part of this ministry by prayerfully considering giving to our Faith Promise program. For more details on Faith Promise please contact us @ 706-866-0325.

What is Faith Promise Mission Giving?

In Faith-Promise giving, individual church members--including adults, young people, and children--are asked to prayerfully consider what amount of money God may be calling them to give for specific missionaries, projects or agencies as suggested by the mission leadership committee.

How Does Faith-Promise Giving Work?

Every member of the congregation is challenged to prayerfully consider making a commitment above and beyond their regular tithe to support missions as clearly described by the missions committee. This commitment is between the giver and God. The church member fills out a commitment card that describes the weekly, monthly or yearly commitment. This card is not signed. These cards are collected and totaled. This total becomes the congregation's mission's budget for the year.

Why Promote Faith-Promise giving?

Congregations that use Faith Promise, testify that the mission awareness and enthusiasm increase significantly, as does the amount of money given for missionary support. The congregation's involvement in world evangelism grows and, through it, God is honored.

Why Does Faith Promise Result in Increased Giving for Missions?

First, it gives the missions committee an opportunity to inform the congregation about the various missionaries or projects before Faith-Promise commitments are made.

Secondly, it gives the opportunity for church members to be more involved by making personal and prayerful commitments.

Does Faith Promise Hurt Other Church Giving?

All the studies show that Faith-Promise mission giving actually enhances other church giving, especially regular budget giving.

How Does Parkway Baptist Collect Their Faith-Promise Gifts?

Parkway Baptist sets aside each Wednesday in the Word service for collection for the Missions program. Your contribution can be placed in any offering, in any service, by designating it for missions on a tithe envelope.

Six Principles of Faith Promise Giving:

1. It is Scriptural.  II Corinthians 9:7
2. It is a source of God's provision and blessings.
3. It is not a pledge.
4. It is trusting God for what I do not now have.
5. It is a commitment.
6. It should be entered into prayerfully.
